Beyond sight loss started in 2014 with an initial grant from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to help us get started with activities and outings.
We are a user led peer support organisation for blind and partially sighted people living and working in Tower Hamlets.
The political purpose of engaging with service users is always paramount; it is to create a collective voice against the obstacles faced on a daily basis as well as creating conditions for social change where visually impaired people are treated as equal.
Our main main aim is to reduce isolation, increase self dependence and enhance the quality of daily life as well as to participate in society socially, economically and politically.
Our aspirations are to continue to grow with your help and input. We meet monthly to update members on local and national developments – by inviting guest speakers and to provide an opportunity for social interaction.
We receive practical and administrative support from London Vision, a monthly meeting venue from Tower Hamlets sight and hearing team and a board meeting room from Spring 4.
Our current funding is mainly dependent on membership contributions and fundraising. We have also been given generous funding by Blind Aid, Can do projects, Canary Wharf Group (CWG) to help us with our activities such as Christmas Meal and social gathering events.
We also arrange a variety of outings / activities such as cooking , theatre trips, visits to places of interests. If you would like to know more about what we do, know anyone who could benefit from what we provide or would like to become a member or volunteer, please feel free to contact us
